FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You probably have questions – here are some that I’m frequently asked…
From getting started to what to expect from your first consult, and my approach to naturopathy + how it can help you, here’s a list of some of the questions I’m often asked by my clients + clients-to-be.

What is Naturopathy?
As a Naturopath, it’s my job to help you piece together your big health picture so that we can understand what’s going on… but, most importantly, why. Aaaand what we’re going to do about it.
Naturopathy offers a holistic approach to optimal + preventative health. Through an integrative blend of science, lifestyle guidance, nutrition + dietary support, herbal medicine, and other natural therapies, naturopathy considers every aspect of your wellbeing – physical, mental + emotional.

Where do we start? And what should I expect?
If we’re working together 1:1, it all begins with our Initial Consult.
We’ll spend an hour exploring exactly what’s going on in your body + life, gathering as many of the pieces of your health puzzle as we can, and then starting to formulate our plan for the way forward – together.
I’ll ask you lots of questions about your current health status, your health history, your family history + more, before we discuss my recommendations + develop your first treatment plan. Your initial plan will most likely include some dietary + lifestyle recommendations, and possibly some supplement or referral recommendations, too.
If you’d like to get started with one of my Classes, Programs or Courses, you’ll find all the info you need [over here].
If you’re unsure how best to begin our work together, why not book a Complimentary Discovery Call or get in touch?
Do I need to get tests done beforehand?
I find even basic blood testing can provide us with a tonne of background on the state of your body + health – especially as I look at these a little (or, honestly, a lot!) differently from your GP, aka from a preventative + optimal health perspective.
My short answer, though: is no, there’s no need to get any tests completed before we start working together.
If we’re going to be consulting with one another, you’ll have an opportunity to provide any recent + relevant test results (think blood test results, imagery reports + anything else) when completing your intake form for me before our Initial Consult – but please don’t worry if you don’t have or can’t find any!
As we’ll spend the majority of that Consult gathering as many of the pieces of your health puzzle as we can, we’ll likely speak about which tests might help fill in even more of the picture + how to go about completing them.
I don't live in Perth... can we still work together?
Of course!
Whether you’re consulting with me in person, or in bed in your pyjamas, it’s my mission to help you get to the root cause of your health concerns + to provide you with the tools you need to start feeling better.
I offer in-person, online + phone consults so we can get to work, wherever you might be – book yours right here.
How do you address x/y/z?
Naturopathy offers a holistic approach to optimal + preventative health.
This means that, when I’m addressing your health concern (whatever it may be – skin- or stress-related, digestive, hormonal, mental, immune…) or general wellbeing, I’m going to explore every aspect of what’s going on – within your body, but also externally, environmentally + emotionally.
Through an integrative blend of evidence-based science and traditional + natural therapies, my consults usually encompass any combination of:
- Herbal Medicine
- Clinical Nutrition + Dietary Advice
- Lifestyle Advice
- Stress Support
- Functional Testing + Pathology Review
- Nutritional Supplementation
- Flower Essence Therapy + Homeobotanicals
- Complementary Medicine – working alongside other healthcare providers

I’ve tried so many things… how will working with you be different?
Working with me, you’ll get the personalised support, compassionate space-holding + dedication to investigation that you’ve been craving – addressing the root cause of your concerns + empowering you with science-backed, natural solutions.
As a practitioner, it’s really important to me that I’m able to make naturopathy work for you. It’s not my role to bark instructions at you, but instead to provide the information, empowerment, education, tools + recommendations that are going to truly help you, every step of the way.
For this reason, I’m dedicated to ensuring that each of your treatment plans are realistic, achievable + sustainable. Because I think that we all know what we “could” + “should” be doing for our wellbeing, and that “in a perfect world” we’d be able to tick all of those boxes (+ then some) – but the reality is, we don’t live in a perfect world; and your version of realistic, achievable + sustainable is just as unique as you are.
My recommendations for your diet + lifestyle operate from a basics-first approach, as well as a realistic one.
The same goes for your supplement protocol. After all, supplements should do just that: supplement; fill in any gaps. I’m mindful that those gaps might change as we progress through our work together – and hopefully, ultimately, they’ll shrink entirely.
I don’t like prescribing tens of tablets + powders to be popping at all times of your day + night – that tends to just get crazy expensive, impractical, and, frankly, a bit annoying (spoken from experience)! Especially if we don’t know that your current state of digestive + gut health is going to allow you to actually absorb + utilise any of it properly…
Plus, as a degree-qualified naturopath, I’m able to prescribe practitioner-only, high-quality, rigorously-tested supplements – so, instead of scouring socials + iHerb for all of the things, I can recommend supplements that’ll give you better bang for your buck (with your body, capacity, budget, lifestyle + preferences in mind, too).
How long will it take?
This is one of the questions I’m asked most often… and it’s also the one I feel like I have to give the most (unintentionally, I promise) annoying answer to: it really depends!
But, if you’re after a quick fix, please know this: you won’t find one here – I’m more about offering you the education, tools + advice you need to improve your health + wellness sustainably for the long haul.
In the absence of a magic wand or magic pill (honestly: they do not exist. I’m so sorry. I wish they did, too), here’s why…
1. As cliche as it may be, everybody is different.
How long it’ll take you to feel well – calm, confident, glowy, healthy + well – will depend on you.
- How long you’ve been feeling unwell, or struggling with your health
- The reason, or reasons, you started feeling that way in the first place
- What else is going on in your life, body, mind, nervous system
- Anything else that pops up as a hurdle – big or small – along the way
2. Very little in the human body happens instantaneously.
For example, it takes 28-42 days for healthy skin cells to renew. That means 4-6 weeks of chipping away at your skin + overall health before the new cells come through healthier than the current cells. And that’s just your skin cells.
3. Consistency is key.
…and it’s why I’m so passionate about making your road to wellness realistic + sustainable. I’m here to support you from the sidelines, cheer you on, keep you accountable + make sure we make naturopathy work for you every step of the way as you implement positive, healthy changes to your life + wellbeing.
Will you just make me cut out x/y/z?
I’ve been a naturopathic client myself. I’ve been told to stop eating this + to cut out that. And it can get a bit much – I get it.
Putting in place changes to your diet + lifestyle is, I think, one of the hardest things about naturopathy. However, “nothing changes if nothing changes”, as they say – putting in place some healthy changes will ultimately change your health. And sometimes things like elimination diets can be helpful (in the short term + as a part of a bigger plan!).
For this reason, I’m dedicated to ensuring that each of your treatment plans are realistic, achievable + sustainable – and for you, specifically (so you’ll have a BIG say in each + every one).
As a practitioner, it’s really important to me that I’m able to make naturopathy work for you. On our journey together, you’re in charge of driving the vehicle. I’ll be providing the directions + support (+ vibes) from the passenger seat right next to you, and want you to always know that we can re-route at any time.
How much will working together cost?
You’ll find the prices listed for each of my Services.
If we’re working together 1:1, you’ll find plenty of information within this booking + billing policy by Floralia Wellness, where you’ll find me consulting.
Is naturopathy covered by my private health insurance?
Unfortunately, the Australian Government excluded several natural + alternative therapies – including naturopathy – from private health insurance coverage in Australia in 2019. After the huge public outcry + campaigning that followed, an Expert Advisory Panel was gathered to perform a Natural Therapies Review, and we are currently still awaiting an outcome. Fingers crossed!
